Growing Tips for Citron Red Seeded Watermelon Seeds: Planting: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date or sow directly outdoors after the last frost. Plant seeds 1 inch deep in well-draining soil, spacing them 2-3 feet apart to allow plenty of room for vines to spread. Soil: Prefers well-drained, sandy loam soil with a pH of 6.0-6.8. Enrich the soil with compost or organic matter to improve fertility and drainage. Watering: Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering once fruits begin to mature to enhance flavor and texture. Sunlight: Requires full sun for optimal growth and fruit development. Ensure plants receive at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Maintenance: Minimal maintenance is needed. Mulch around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune vines if necessary to manage growth and promote larger fruit development. Fertilization: Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer or compost tea every 3-4 weeks during the growing season to encourage healthy growth and fruit production.
