Peacock Seed Blend – Multi-Species Forage Mix with Proso Millet, Sorghum & Sunflower, Attracts & Feeds Peafowl & Backyard Birds

Multi-Species Forage for Peafowl and Backyard Birds Peafowl and backyard birds both do best with real variety, not a single grain dumped in a feeder. This blend combines high-energy grains, oil-rich sunflower, and protein-boosting clovers and chicory into one planting that feeds peafowl alongside chickens, turkey, and wild songbirds sharing the same ground. It's a working forage mix built for mixed flocks, not a single-species feed pretending to cover everyone. Who Plants Peacock Seed Blend? The peafowl keeper wanting genuine forage variety beyond standard feed. The backyard bird enthusiast supporting peafowl alongside chickens and wild birds. The homesteader wanting a mixed forage planting for a diverse flock or yard. The land manager building a bird-friendly planting that draws both domestic and wild species. What This Multi-Species Blend Actually Is This mix combines high-energy grains, an oil-rich seed crop, and protein-rich legumes and forbs selected for peafowl and backyard bird forage rather than a single-species planting. Components mature at different rates, offering seed heads, greens, and blooms across the season. Grains: White Proso Millet and Red Milo Sorghum, fast-growing, high-energy seed crops that draw birds to mature seed heads. Oil-rich seed crop: Black Oil Sunflower, high-fat seeds favored by peafowl and a wide range of backyard and wild birds. Protein legumes: Biennial Clover and White Cloud Crimson Clover, fast-growing legumes adding protein and fixing nitrogen. Mineral-rich forb: Six Point Chicory, deep-rooted and loaded with trace minerals for grazing and browsing birds. In the Yard & Run Mixed flock forage: Plant where peafowl share ground with chickens, turkey, or other backyard birds. Seed head forage: Allow millet, sorghum, and sunflower to mature as a natural seed source birds forage directly. Protein and mineral support: Let clovers and chicory mature to boost forage protein and trace minerals. Wild bird draw: Use as a planting that also attracts songbirds and other wild species to the yard. Rotational planting: Sow in resting sections while birds work another area, then rotate access. Ornamental and functional planting: Enjoy sunflower and clover blooms while the planting does double duty as forage. Growing Peacock Seed Blend Start method: Broadcast onto prepared soil; light raking helps seed-to-soil contact. Timing: Plant in spring after last frost, once soil has warmed. Seeding rate: Broadcast at a rate suited to plot size; denser sowing speeds ground cover. Germination: Components germinate at different rates, typically 5 to 14 days. Sunlight: Full sun. Soil: Tolerates a wide range of soils; fertile, well-drained ground supports the strongest stand. Watering: Keep soil moist through germination; established stands tolerate variable moisture. Growth habit: Mixed heights, from low clover and chicory to tall grain and sunflower stalks. Access timing: Allow initial establishment before introducing birds, then rotate as needed. Hardiness: Grown as a warm-season annual blend; not frost-hardy. Before You Close This Page This is a forage blend built for yards and runs with more than one kind of bird in them.
