Oleander Seeds (Nerium oleander) Evergreen flowering shrub with vibrant blooms; drought tolerant and ideal for warm climates

Minimum: 25+ Seeds Oleander Seeds – Bold Blooms That Thrive Where Others Quit 🌺🔥 If you need a flowering shrub that laughs at drought, handles relentless heat, and rewards you with months of stunning color, oleander is your plant. This evergreen Mediterranean beauty produces clusters of vibrant pink to purplish blooms from late spring through fall, filling your garden with color when everything else is gasping for water. Oleander is tough as nails, thriving in coastal salt spray, desert heat, urban pollution, and poor soil without breaking a sweat. Gardeners in warm climates, xeriscapers, landscape designers, and anyone tired of babying temperamental plants will find oleander incredibly satisfying. This is a shrub that works hard, looks gorgeous, and asks for almost nothing in return. Color That Won't Quit These oleander seeds produce plants with gorgeous pink to purplish flowers, ranging from soft rose and coral pink to deeper magenta and violet tones. The blooms are tubular with five overlapping petals that flare open like small pinwheels, appearing in dense clusters at the branch tips. Each flower is about 1.5 to 2 inches across, and the clusters create a big visual impact from a distance. Oleander blooms continuously from late spring through fall, sometimes into early winter in mild climates, giving you months of nonstop color. The evergreen foliage is equally attractive: long, narrow, leathery leaves in deep green that stay lush year-round. Even when not blooming, oleander provides structure, texture, and privacy screening that looks polished and intentional. Built for Heat, Drought, and Neglect Oleander is native to the Mediterranean basin and North Africa, where summers are scorching, rainfall is scarce, and plants either adapt or die. Oleander adapted brilliantly. It thrives in full sun and high heat, tolerates poor sandy or rocky soil, handles salt spray and coastal winds, and survives extended drought once established. It's one of the most low-maintenance flowering shrubs you can grow in zones 8 through 11. Oleander is the plant you see lining highways in California, Arizona, and Texas, thriving without irrigation or care. It's the backbone of xeriscaping and water-wise landscaping in arid regions. If you live in a hot, dry climate and struggle to keep plants alive, oleander will restore your confidence. Growing Tips for Success: Starting seeds: Oleander seeds need warmth to germinate. Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat. Sow on the surface of well-draining seed mix and press lightly. Keep at 70 to 80°F in bright, indirect light. Germination can take 2 to 4 weeks, sometimes longer. Be patient. Soil: Well-drained is critical. Oleander tolerates poor, sandy, rocky, or clay soil as long as water drains away. It will not tolerate wet feet or heavy, waterlogged ground. Slightly alkaline to neutral pH is ideal. Sunlight: Full sun. Oleander needs at least 6 to 8 hours of direct light to bloom heavily. It tolerates light shade but flowers less. Spacing: Plant 4 to 6 feet apart for hedges, 8 to 10 feet apart for specimen plants. Oleanders can reach 8 to 12 feet tall and 6 to 10 feet wide at maturity, though regular pruning keeps them smaller and more manageable. Water: Water regularly during the first year to establish roots. After that, oleander is extremely drought-tolerant and needs only occasional deep watering during extended dry spells. Overwatering causes root rot and poor growth. Fertilization: Light feeding in spring with balanced fertilizer encourages blooms, but oleander doesn't need it. It thrives on neglect. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to shape plants, remove dead wood, and encourage bushy growth. Oleander blooms on new wood, so pruning won't reduce flowering. Oleander grows well in large containers for patios, courtyards, and poolside plantings. Use well-draining potting mix and water when the top few inches dry out. Versatile Landscape Workhorse Oleander is incredibly versatile in the landscape. Plant it as a hedge or screen for year-round privacy. Use it as a foundation planting, specimen shrub, or backdrop for lower-growing perennials. It works beautifully in Mediterranean gardens, desert landscapes, tropical themes, and modern minimalist designs. Oleander tolerates urban pollution, making it a smart choice for city gardens and streetscapes. It's commonly planted along highways, parking lots, and commercial properties because it thrives on neglect and looks good doing it. The flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds, adding movement and life to the garden. And because it's evergreen, oleander provides structure and color even in winter when deciduous plants go dormant. Important Safety Information Oleander is beautiful and tough, but it's also highly toxic. Every part of the plant contains cardiac glycosides that are poisonous if ingested, and the sap can irritate skin and eyes. This is not a plant for homes with small children who put things in their mouths, curious pets that nibble plants, or livestock with access to garden areas. Always wear gloves when pruning or handling oleander, wash hands thoroughly afterward, and never burn oleander trimmings (the smoke is toxic). Dispose of cuttings in green waste bins or compost them in isolated piles away from animals. With proper precautions and thoughtful placement, oleander is perfectly safe to grow. Just treat it with respect and keep it out of reach of kids, pets, and grazing animals. Mediterranean Beauty for Modern Gardens Oleander has been cultivated for thousands of years, grown in ancient Greek and Roman gardens, Persian courtyards, and Spanish patios. It's deeply woven into Mediterranean culture and landscape tradition. In modern gardens, oleander brings that timeless elegance and resilience to regions where water is precious and conditions are harsh. It's a plant that connects us to centuries of gardening wisdom while meeting the demands of contemporary sustainable landscaping. When you grow oleander from seed, you're planting something that has proven itself across climates, cultures, and centuries. Grow Color Without the Work Imagine a hedge of oleander in full bloom, pink and purple flowers cascading along the branches, butterflies drifting through, the whole scene thriving in blazing sun without a drop of supplemental water. Oleander seeds give you that. They give you a plant that performs year after year with minimal care, looks stunning from spring through fall, and anchors your landscape with evergreen structure and bold color. This is a shrub for gardeners who want beauty without babying, impact without irrigation, and blooms that show up on time every year. Plant your oleander seeds, give them sun and drainage, and grow a flowering shrub that earns its place a hundred times over.
