Minimum: 15+ Seeds Looking for something a little different from your usual cherry tomatoes? The Green Grape Tomato is a rare organic variety that will surprise and delight with its clusters of tangy-sweet green fruits that ripen to a beautiful amber-green hue with a hint of gold blush. Unlike the common red or yellow cherries, these tomatoes hold onto their fresh green color even when ripe, making them a standout both in the garden and on the plate. When I first grew Green Grape, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the moment I tasted one, I knew it was special. The flavor is bright, zesty, and complex, striking a perfect balance between sweet and tangy. Their small, bite-sized shape makes them irresistible for snacking, and their unique look always sparks conversation at garden parties and market tables. 🌟 Why Grow Green Grape Tomatoes? Organic heirloom variety: Perfect for sustainable, chemical-free gardens. Unusual fruits: Clusters of green-to-amber cherries stand out in color and taste. Bold flavor: Tangy, citrusy, and sweet, ideal for fresh eating. Productive vines: Indeterminate plants set fruit continuously through the season. Versatile: Excellent for snacking, salads, and gourmet dishes. 📜 History & Heritage: Developed by tomato breeder Tom Wagner in the 1980s (also known for Green Zebra), the Green Grape Tomato quickly gained recognition among heirloom enthusiasts for its unexpected color and flavor profile. It remains a favorite for those who appreciate uniqueness and quality in their garden harvests. 🍴 Culinary Uses: Fresh snacking: Their sweet-tangy bite makes them addictive right off the vine. Salads: Perfect in mixed cherry tomato bowls, adding a splash of green contrast. Garnishes: Beautiful on cheese boards, bruschetta, or antipasto plates. Cooking: Roast or sauté for a tangy-sweet depth in pasta or grain dishes. Fermenting & pickling: Their firm skins make them ideal for pickled cherry tomatoes. 🌿 Growing Tips (garden-tested): Start indoors: Sow seeds 6–8 weeks before last frost date. Transplanting: Move outdoors after danger of frost and when nights stay above 55°F. Spacing: 24–36 inches between plants; support with cages or trellises. Soil: Prefers rich, loamy, well-draining soil with organic matter. Watering: Keep evenly moist; avoid overhead watering to reduce disease risk. Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced organic fertilizer every 3–4 weeks. Harvest: 70–80 days from transplant. Ripe fruits turn a soft green with a golden glow, don’t wait for them to turn red! 💡 Pro Tip: Many gardeners mistakenly wait for Green Grape tomatoes to “turn color.” Their ripe stage is amber-green with a translucent glow. Taste-testing is the best way to know when they’re at peak flavor. 🌍 Perfect For: Organic growers: Certified organic seeds for chemical-free gardening. Home gardeners: Unique, fun, and rewarding cherry tomato to try. Chefs & food lovers: Adds gourmet flair and unexpected color to dishes. Farmers’ markets: Eye-catching variety that sells fast at displays. ✨ Why You’ll Love It: The Green Grape Tomato isn’t just another cherry tomato, it’s a conversation starter, a gourmet delight, and a productive garden favorite.
