Once established, they’re remarkably hardy and can tolerate cold winters, making them ideal for northern and temperate regions. Sunlight: Full sun (6–8 hours daily) Soil: Loamy, fertile soil rich in organic matter; pH 5.5–6.8 Water: Keep evenly moist during fruiting; avoid waterlogging Temperature: Prefers 60–75°F (15–24°C); tolerates cold winters Spacing: 18–24 inches apart in rows, with 3–4 feet between rows Fertilizer: Apply compost or balanced organic fertilizer in spring before growth resumes 🌱 How to Grow from Seed Growing raspberries from seed is a slow but rewarding process, often used by hobbyists and breeders to cultivate unique plants. Although propagation from cuttings or rootstock is faster, seed-grown raspberries offer genetic diversity and resilience. Seed Stratification: Place seeds in damp sand inside a sealed bag and refrigerate for 8–12 weeks to simulate winter. Sowing: After stratification, sow seeds ¼ inch deep in moist seed-starting mix. Germination: Maintain 65–75°F (18–24°C); germination may take 3–6 weeks. Light: Provide bright indirect light or full-spectrum grow light. Transplanting: Move seedlings outdoors once 3–4 inches tall and frost danger has passed. 💡 Tip: Raspberries prefer permanent locations. Choose a well-drained, sunny site or large raised bed for best results. 🍇 Plant Features & Growth Framboise Raspberries produce arching canes with lush green leaves and delicate white flowers that mature into clusters of bright red fruit.
