Ultimate Coop Cocktail (17 Variety Seed Mix) – Premium Chicken Forage & Soil Builder Blend, Clovers, Grains & Legumes for Healthier Hens, Richer Yolks & Nutrient-Rich Coop Soil

Minimum: 500+ Seeds The Forage Mix That Feeds Hens and Soil Most chicken runs end up as bare, compacted dirt within a season. This 17-variety mix was built to prevent that, combining fast-germinating grains, deep-rooted brassicas, and nitrogen-fixing legumes into one blend that regrows under grazing pressure instead of disappearing under it. Hens get a rotating buffet of greens, seeds, and roots that shows up in richer, deeper-orange yolks, while the run gets living roots holding soil together and rebuilding fertility between plantings. This is a working forage mix, built by people managing real coop runs, not generic pasture seed in new packaging. Who Plants Ultimate Coop Cocktail? The backyard chicken keeper tired of a bare, muddy, or dust-bowl coop run. The homesteader wanting measurably richer yolks from pasture-raised hens. The soil-focused poultry keeper using forage as a deliberate soil-building tool. The small-flock owner rotating runs, needing a fast-establishing cover crop. What This 17-Variety Blend Actually Is This mix combines fast grains, forage brassicas, and nitrogen-fixing legumes selected for chicken forage and soil rebuilding rather than hay or grain harvest. Components germinate at different rates, extending the grazing window across changing weather. Grown as a warm- and cool-season annual blend, reseeded between rotations. Grains and quick cover: Dove Proso Millet, Japanese Millet, Peredovik Sunflower, Egyptian Wheat, Oats, Barley. Grazing-tolerant base: Ryegrass, Tall Fescue, Creeping Red Fescue. Deep-rooted brassicas: Purple Top Turnip, Daikon Radish. Nitrogen-fixing legumes: Austrian Winter Peas, Crimson Clover, Iron Clay Cowpea. Fast growth and pollinator support: Buckwheat, Broadleaf Mustard, Crackerjack Marigold. In the Coop Run Rotational grazing plots: Sow in a resting section while hens work another, then rotate. Bare-run rehabilitation: Broadcast over compacted or bare dirt to rebuild cover and structure. Winter forage extension: Include cold-hardy parts like winter peas and fescue for cool-season use. Deep-root soil building: Let daikon and turnip roots grow fully to break compaction and add matter. Seed head forage: Allow millet, sunflower, and wheat to mature as a natural seed source hens forage. Pollinator draw: Let marigold and clover flower fully to support beneficial insects around the run. Planting Ultimate Coop Cocktail Start method: Broadcast onto prepared or bare soil; light raking helps seed-to-soil contact. Timing: Plant in spring or fall depending on climate; cool-season parts favor fall in mild zones. Seeding rate: Broadcast at a rate suited to plot size; denser sowing speeds ground cover. Germination: Components germinate at different rates, typically 5-14 days. Sunlight: Full sun to part shade, depending on which parts dominate the stand. Soil: Tolerates a wide range of soils; deep-rooted parts improve poor ground. Watering: Keep soil moist through germination; established stands tolerate variable moisture. Grazing timing: Allow initial establishment before introducing hens, then rotate. Reseeding: Overseed thin or heavily grazed areas as needed. Hardiness: Mix of warm- and cool-season annuals; expect natural die-back and reseeding. Before You Close This Page This is a working forage system, not a single seed packet. Ultimate Coop Cocktail combines 17 varieties chosen for what a coop run needs: fast cover, deep roots, nitrogen fixation, and a rotating supply of greens and seed heads. Hens get real variety and better nutrition, and the ground underneath gets rebuilt instead of worn down. Rotate it through resting runs, let the roots work, and reseed as needed. Grow the blend built for the coop, not the hayfield.
