Handcrafted Hardwood Ferro Rod

The Selection At Kempain Family Outfitters, we look for tools that honor the fundamental elements of outdoor survival without the fluff of modern gadgets. We selected the Zünden because it is a study in natural integrity and reliability. In a field dominated by plastic and synthetic grips, the handcrafted hardwood handle stands out as a disciplined choice that feels at home in a calloused hand. It aligns with our "buy less, buy better" philosophy—a single tool capable of 15,000 strikes that functions just as effectively in a Connecticut rainstorm as it does at high altitude. The Product The Zünden Fire Starter is the ferrocerium rod that established Überleben as a leader in field-grade ignition. Utilizing their proprietary Sånft-korr™ ferrocerium, this rod is engineered to find the perfect balance between softness and durability, throwing molten spark showers at 5,500ºF even when soaking wet. The 100% hardwood handle is handmade to provide a natural, textured grip that earns a seasoned patina over years of use. Each kit comes equipped with an AmbiStriker multi-tool—featuring a straight-edge spine and concave tinder scraper—and is secured by a mil-spec 550 paracord lanyard. It is a timeless, mission-ready essential for the minimalist woodsman. Product Details: Proprietary Ferro Blend: Sånft-korr™ ferrocerium yields 15,000+ strikes.
