Zipp SL Road Bar

Zipp's SL Road Bar is as light as a carbon-fiber handlebar can be.   Weighing in at 170g for a 42cm width, this bar has been reduced to the minimum, while still being strong enough to pass European safety standards. The key was the time Zipp spent developing these bars. They went t through over 40 different iterations before finding the right mix of carbon-fiber and laminate.   The SL possesses the same short and shallow shape that the Contour SL has, just without the contours on top. That means you get a short 84.5mm reach on a shallow ramp, followed by a semi-ergo shallow drop of 128mm. The hooks follow an oval curve for more riding comfort when hammering down there.   Even without the contour on the tops, the bars are still grooved so you can easily route your cables in front or behind, and not have the housing bulging out from under your tape.   As you can imagine, this bar is too light for mounting aero extensions, but the gradual taper from the 48mm clamping area to the first bends would make it impossible anyways. This taper looks good, helps put the cable housing in the right spots, and is comfortable to boot.   The Zipp SL Road Bar is the complement for any featherweight bike and rider.
