Zio Footstool

The Moooi Zio Footstool is Marcel Wanders' finishing touch for the Zio collection - that piece that transforms regular seating into actual lounging where you can properly put your feet up and settle in for the afternoon. Designed back in 2013 to complement the Zio Lounge Chair, it carries that same aesthetic of organic curves meeting clean, straight-edge cuts that defines the whole family. The solid oak frame with CMHR foam cushioning gives it enough structure to handle daily use without looking or feeling flimsy. Available in multiple wood stains - from natural oil to cinnamon, white wash, grey, or even black if you want something darker - plus a wide range of upholstery fabrics to match or contrast with your existing pieces. The square proportions at roughly 22 inches make it substantial enough to be useful without taking over floor space. What makes this more versatile than typical matching footstools is how well it functions beyond just propping your feet up. The solid oak construction and generous cushioning mean it works perfectly fine as impromptu seating when you have more guests than chairs, or even as a low side table when you need a landing spot for books and coffee mugs. Paired with the Zio Lounge Chair, it creates that full reclining setup for reading or watching movies, but it looks intentional enough to use on its own in other parts of your home. The turned oak legs give it a refined detail that keeps it from looking too casual or cheap, and the height works well with most seating for actual leg support rather than that awkward situation where you're stretching to reach or your knees are bent uncomfortably high. Moooi operates out of the Netherlands with Marcel Wanders as co-founder and artistic director, bringing that Dutch design sensibility where every piece in a collection should be well-considered rather than just churning out matching accessories. Wanders designed the Zio family to have this cohesive language that works together but doesn't demand you buy everything - each piece stands on its own merit. Founded in 2001, the brand's known for quality construction methods and materials that back up the design with longevity. They work with manufacturers who understand that footstools get stepped on, sat on, and generally used hard, so they build accordingly with proper frames and quality upholstery rather than cutting corners to hit lower price points. The Zio Footstool reflects that approach of creating furniture that enhances how you actually live rather than just completing a set for the sake of it.
