Aphelandra Zebra Plant

Description Light/Soil/Water Hardiness Aphelandra Zebra Plant, scientifically known as Aphelandra squarrosa, is a striking tropical houseplant that belongs to the Acanthaceae family. Originating from the rainforests of Brazil, this plant is renowned for its lush foliage and distinctive zebra-like patterns adorning its leaves, which resemble the stripes of a zebra, hence its name. The Zebra Plant features large, glossy, dark green leaves marked with bold, white, and sometimes yellowish veins that create a dramatic contrast, making it a popular choice among plant enthusiasts and interior decorators. When provided with the right care, Aphelandra Zebra Plant blooms during the warmer months, producing vibrant, tubular flowers that emerge from striking bracts. These flowers can be yellow or orange, adding an extra layer of color to the already vibrant foliage.  It prefers bright, indirect light. Water the plant when the soil is dry to the touch. Well-Drained, Porous potting soil. This plant should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.  The Aphelandra Zebra Plant is non-toxic.
