Yuki Kabuki™ Deutzia

Whether you are looking for a spring showstopper or a low-maintenance landscape solution, the Yuki Kabuki™ Deutzia (Deutzia x 'NCDX3') is a charming deciduous shrub that delivers high-impact beauty in a compact package. This Proven Winners® introduction is a sophisticated relative of the popular Yuki Cherry Blossom®, beloved for its unique bicolor floral display and exceptional multi-season interest. A Spring Performance of Bicolor Blooms The name "Kabuki" hints at the drama this plant brings to the garden. In late spring, the foliage is nearly hidden beneath a profusion of dainty, bell-shaped flowers. Each bloom features a striking pink stripe against a clean white petal, creating a shimmering, bicolor effect that looks like a soft pink cloud has settled into your garden. These clusters aren't just for show; they are a vital early-season nectar source that attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds to your yard. Sculptural Habit and Autumn Fire Beyond the spring spectacle, Yuki Kabuki™ maintains a tidy, mounded habit that requires almost no "policing" with the shears. Reaching a mature size of about 2.5 to 4 feet tall and wide, it fills the "mid-size" niche perfectly—large enough to make a statement but small enough to tuck into a mixed perennial border. While the summer foliage is a lush, medium green, the plant truly shines again in the fall. As temperatures drop, the leaves ignite into a rich tapestry of yellow, red, and deep burgundy-purple, providing a final, fiery act before the winter dormancy. Versatility in the Modern Landscape This is a "workhorse" plant for the busy gardener. Because it is deer-resistant and drought-tolerant once established, it excels in a variety of roles. Use it as a flowering groundcover, a low-growing hedge to define a walkway, or as a "filler" in large patio containers. Its ability to thrive in both full sun and partial shade makes it an adaptable choice for those tricky spots where light conditions shift throughout the day.
