YUCK

Have you ever really stopped to think about frosting?  Do you find it tasty? Are you completely grossed out by it? Dive into a visually delightful and thought-provoking experience with this unique 16x12 inch acrylic and baking soda painting on a canvas panel. It’s framed and ready to hang on your wall.  The work “YUCK,” hand drawn and painted across this piece, playfully challenges the norms of beauty. It presents a playful contrast: what looks enticing and sweet, almost like frosting, is paired with a word that suggests the opposite. This artwork cleverly plays with your senses, combining the visual appeal of something sugary with the boldness of the text. It's a creative way to think about how appearances can be deceiving, especially in our image-focused world. This artwork isn’t just a piece to admire; it’s a conversation starter, an exploration of contrasts that provokes thought and discussion. Through embracing the complexity and beauty of texture, which have become pivotal elements in my work, I see so much potential in what I can express with pushing and pulling the edges of what it can convey.  For the longest time, I was hesitant to experiment with my art, largely because I was worried about wasting materials. But over the past year, I've been experimenting with hand-lettering and textured acrylic paint. The freedom to mix and match different techniques without the fear of wasting materials has been liberating. And, has made me wish I took more ‘risks’ like this in my art because the results have felt great. Ideal for those who appreciate the deeper, often humorous, commentary on societal norms. It’s a gateway to introspection and discussion, making it a perfect fit for anyone who wants to be reminded to experiment and take risks. It’s also for anyone who loves art that speaks, questions, and connects on multiple sensory levels.
