York Barbell Competition Bumper Plates

Competition Bumper Plates York Barbell Competition Bumper Plates York builds these plates to the specifications for competition in North America. Every weight measures 17.7 inches across, the standard IWF 450 mm diameter, so a 25 lb plate and a 55 lb plate set the bar at the same height off the floor. Thickness is what changes: 1.25 inches at 25 lb, then 1.5, 2 and 2.5 inches as the weight goes up. The centre is a zinc-coated hub and inner collar with a 1.99-inch opening, which fits most 2-inch Olympic barbells and holds the plate close on the sleeve. Plates are sold individually in green, yellow, blue and red. Are these plates sold in pairs or individually? + These are sold individually. Each item number is a single plate, so order in pairs if you want a balanced bar. Will these fit my barbell? + The opening diameter is 1.99 inches, which fits most 2-inch Olympic barbells. How thick is each plate? + 1.25 inches at 25 lb, 1.5 inches at 35 lb, 2 inches at 45 lb and 2.5 inches at 55 lb. Diameter stays at 17.7 inches across all four. Why does every weight have the same diameter? + The IWF 450 mm standard sets it, and York holds it at all four weights. The bar therefore starts in the same place whether the outside plate is a 25 or a 55. How are these different from York's rubber training bumpers? + The training bumper is solid rubber on a 2-inch reinforced centre steel sleeve, runs from 10 lb to 45 lb, and measures between 17 7/16 and 17 3/4 inches depending on the weight. The competition plate holds one 17.7-inch diameter at every weight and uses a zinc-coated hub and inner collar with a 1.99-inch opening. What is the hub made of? + The hub and the inner collar are zinc coated, and those are the parts of the plate that meet the bar sleeve. What does the colour of the plate tell me? + The colour tells you the weight: green is 25 lb, yellow is 35 lb, blue is 45 lb and red is 55 lb. What warranty comes with the competition plates? + York backs them with a one-year standard warranty.
