The Yates Persimmon Tree is a beloved American persimmon variety known for its abundant harvests, exceptional cold hardiness, and richly sweet, full-flavored fruit. Producing medium-to-large, deep orange to orange-red persimmons with a smooth, nutty sweetness, Yates is a favorite for fresh eating, drying, baking, preserves, curries, drinks, pies, and traditional puddings. Its irresistible flavor draws in both people and wildlife, making it a powerful addition to any home orchard or habitat-focused landscape. Yates Persimmon is a female persimmon tree that begins fruiting quickly—typically within 2–3 years with proper care. The fruit measures 1.25–1.5 inches, ripening early in the season, extending your harvest window compared to other American persimmons. With a mature height of 30’–50′ and durability down to USDA Zones 5b–9, this tree thrives in a wide range of climates and soils, embodying the rugged reliability land lovers appreciate. For growers seeking a cold-hardy, early-ripening, easy-care persimmon tree that yields a steady supply of sweet, nutrient-rich fruit, the Yates Persimmon stands tall as one of the most rewarding choices you can plant. Grafted onto hardy Diospyros virginiana rootstock. Yates Persimmons are also sold as part of our Deer Candy Persimmon Collection.
