Their vines have been traditionally used for making baskets, sandals, and ropes, while their reddish-purple fruits were used for dyeing or consumed fresh and cooked. They have long been a part of Japanese life as a natural material that can be used without waste. Though admired for their strength and vitality, wild grapes wrap around other trees and cause serious damage, making it necessary to cut them down to maintain forest health. The brand focuses on upcycling this unwanted material, giving it new value while honoring nature’s cycle.
