XLAB Gorilla XT Carbon Bottle Cage

A bottle cage has a fine line to walk: it must be tight enough to prevent bottles from launching but supple enough so that you can grab your bottle without a struggle. The XLAB Gorilla XT Carbon Bottle Cage is like the wrestler with a heart of gold. No more lost bottles you have to circle back to pick up. Developed with six tall gripping fingers, the Gorilla XT Cage boasts the equivalent of fourteen pounds of grip force. The tall sides effectively hold even the large-sized bottles that are so useful for those epic training days, or races when the organizers aren’t providing your preferred drinks. The carbon used for the cage is thicker allowing for a stronger hold as well. The stiff hook at the top means that once you secure your bottle in the slot, it's not going anywhere till you pull it out again. XLAB is careful to warn you, however, that there are certain bottles that simply don’t work well with this design. You want to have a bottle that has a uniform groove all the way around high enough up that it will slip perfectly into the Gorilla XT hook. They candidly say that the Camelback Podium and the Polar Insulated both have designs that do not work as well with the Gorilla XT, and make them more likely to be launched. If you are uncertain whether your bottle will work, just do yourself a favor and get the XLAB Aqua-Shot bottle. The Gorilla XT Carbon Bottle Cage is made from carbon, which keeps it at a fantastically light 49g. It is just ten grams heavier than the regular Gorilla, but twice as strong. You’ll never have to worry about another launched bottle with the XLAB Gorilla XT Carbon Bottle Cage. Whether you are racing the smooth roads in Hawaii or using it for an epic mountain bike marathon, the Gorilla XT will keep your water on tap.
