The GE Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor powers the fan that circulates cold air from the evaporator coils throughout the freezer and refrigerator compartments. It runs whenever the compressor is operating, pulling air across the coils and pushing it through the vents to maintain an even, consistent temperature inside the unit. The GE Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor can fail due to worn bearings, a burned-out winding, ice buildup around the fan assembly, or general wear from years of continuous use. When the motor weakens or stops, airflow through the refrigerator is reduced or lost entirely, making it difficult for the appliance to hold the correct temperature. These symptoms may indicate the evaporator fan motor needs to be replaced: - Refrigerator or freezer not staying cold enough - Loud squealing, grinding, or humming noise coming from the freezer section - Fan blade is not spinning even when the compressor is running - Food in the fresh food compartment is warmer than normal - Frost buildup on the back wall of the freezer due to poor airflow - Refrigerator runs constantly but cannot reach the set temperature - No airflow felt through the interior vents when the doors are open
