The GE Refrigerator Double Ice Maker Valve controls the flow of water into the ice maker by opening and closing on demand from the refrigerator's control board. It uses two solenoid-operated inlets to regulate water supply, allowing the ice maker to fill at the right time and in the right amount for proper ice production. Important Compatibility Note: Part number WR57X25917 is the current manufacturer-approved replacement for the following discontinued part number(s): WR55X11146. If your appliance documentation or old part uses any of these numbers, this is the correct, updated component for your repair. The GE Refrigerator Double Ice Maker Valve can fail due to mineral buildup from hard water, worn solenoid coils, or a cracked valve body caused by water pressure fluctuations over time. When the valve weakens or stops responding to electrical signals, the ice maker may receive too much water, too little, or none at all, disrupting normal ice production. These symptoms may point to a failing ice maker valve in your refrigerator: - Ice maker stops producing ice entirely - Ice maker overflows or produces oversized, clumped ice - Water leaking onto the freezer floor or beneath the refrigerator - Ice maker fills too slowly or only partially - Humming or buzzing near the back of the refrigerator when ice should be filling - Refrigerator dispenses little or no water from the door - Ice with an unusual taste or odor from restricted water flow
