Whirlpool Oven Temperature Sensor (WP7430P044-60)

The Whirlpool Oven Temperature Sensor monitors the internal temperature of the oven cavity and sends continuous readings to the control board, which uses that information to regulate the heating elements and maintain the set temperature. It works by measuring electrical resistance that changes with heat, allowing the control board to cycle the elements on and off to keep the oven at the correct baking or broiling temperature. The Whirlpool Oven Temperature Sensor can fail over time due to repeated heating and cooling cycles, physical damage to the probe tip, or a break in the sensor wiring. Corrosion, grease buildup, or contact with oven surfaces can also degrade the sensor, causing it to send inaccurate readings that throw off the control board's ability to regulate heat properly. Look for these symptoms to determine if the temperature sensor may need to be replaced: - Oven temperature runs too hot or too cold compared to the set temperature - Food consistently burns or comes out undercooked - Oven takes much longer than normal to preheat - Control board displays an error or fault code related to temperature sensing - Oven heating elements cycle on and off erratically - Oven shuts off unexpectedly during cooking - Oven does not heat at all despite the controls responding normally
