Servings To help you make an informed decision, here’s how servings work for the meat product: Servings are measured by dry weight, not prepared weight Meat servings are based on approximately ⅓ to ½ cup (about 30 g) of freeze-dried meat, depending on the item Rice servings are also measured dry, before water is added Once water is added, the food expands in volume This is the standard method used across the emergency food industry and allows for long shelf life and consistent storage. These servings are intended to be combined with other foods (such as rice, vegetables, or sauces) to create complete meals.
