The Wisconsin Flyers played in the Continental Basketball Association from 1982 - 1987 and had many setbacks during their time. Some teams change owners and names multiple times, while others change head coaches - and this is exactly what happened to the Wisconsin Flyers. Right before the Flyers first season began, their head coach Dave Wohl took an assistant's position with the New Jersey Nets and left the team with new head coach, Dave Harshman. After their first season, the team got a new head coach named Torchy Clark but Clark had a falling out with the owner despite their most successful season, a 27-17 campaign where they won the division. Shortly after, the team got their fourth head coach named Bill Klucas who previously coached the Anchorage Northern Knights. In 1986, they got their fifth head coach and former player Joe Merten before going back to head coach Bill Klucas in 1987. Year after year, the Flyers continued to flip coaches without results on the court. By their continued poor play on the court plus lack of support from fans led to their demise in 1987. This would make a unique gift for the basketball fan in your life or a neat find for yourself of a vintage basketball team from Wisconsin. Free standard shipping, no minimum.
