Windy Possibilities by Heather A. Herrick

Six years after losing her parents, marine researcher Marie Mercer isn’t searching for solid ground. She’s choosing the sea. Sailing her beloved boat Windy Possibilities to Cozumel with only her loyal Labrador, Charlie, beside her, Marie expects to begin her dream job at a thriving dolphin research center—only to find it nearly abandoned and on the brink of collapse. Determined to rebuild it, she throws herself into the work. But the ocean has its own currents, and the dolphins she studies begin responding to her in ways no research paper can explain. As Marie’s unexpected partnership with Gabe, a reserved engineer, deepens, they develop an experimental underwater communication system that challenges everything scientists believe about human-animal connection. What begins as research soon becomes something far more personal... and far more dangerous. When powerful interests threaten the dolphins and the fragile sanctuary Marie has come to love, Marie must decide how much she’s willing to risk to protect the dolphins who seem to have chosen her. Set against the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, Windy Possibilities is a story of grief, courage, sailing adventure, and the extraordinary bond between humans and the ocean.
