"Wind Swept" Vintage Haori Jacket

This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket. Learn more about this type of garment below. A quiet statement piece, this vintage haori draws you in with a dense, flowing abstract weave in black, silver, and soft mauve tones. The pattern feels almost alive, like a murmuration of birds, wind-swept leaves, or rippling water currents, created through a textured woven technique. Rather than a defined motif, this style leans into mid-century abstraction, where pattern suggests motion and energy. The restrained palette keeps it versatile, while the intricate surface adds visual interest up close, making it an easy layer that still feels special. A woman's haori is a traditional Japanese jacket worn over a kimono, designed to provide both warmth and an added layer of formality. Today, these jackets transition effortlessly into modern fashion as a lightweight, open-front layer. They can be worn over dresses, denim, or simple basics to add texture, color, and a distinctive, artful touch. Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath. An optional accessory is the haori himo - little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately. We'll select one that goes with this haori if you pick the Add A Himo Pair option above. To choose a pair of our fancier himo, CLICK HERE. Going to display this haori?
