Willow Oak Tree

The Benefits of Willows & Oaks All In One Combining the beauty of willow-like leaves and the color-changing foliage of oaks, the Willow Oak is a unique and stunning landscape pick. Its vibrant leaves start off light to bright green in summer before changing to lovely yellows and reds in fall for quintessential autumn hues. Withstanding tough conditions, the Willow Oak doesn’t mind poorly draining soils and wet areas, making it ideal for spaces in your yard that might be swampy or prone to flooding. Who doesn’t love a reliable and easy-growing shade tree? What’s more is that the Willow Oak grows into a balanced, rounded form, making it highly attractive and neat, not to mention a breeze to maintain. And with its fast-growing ability, you’ll enjoy both elegance and ease as it reaches about 40-60 feet in height at maturity. Add this pick to your front yard as a stately focal point or in your backyard to create a peaceful shaded oasis. Anywhere it’s placed it’ll make a dazzling debut! Just be sure to choose an area with full sun to light shade for optimum growth. For fast-growing shade, soil adaptability and appealing foliage, choose the Willow Oak! Your landscape will quickly benefit from its undeniable, one-of-a-kind charm. Planting & Care 1. Planting: Plant your Willow Oak in a spot in your yard that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. Pick a spot that will give this tree plenty of room to grow. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the tree's root ball. After you plant the tree, tamp down the soil until it is firm. Thoroughly water the base of the tree, so that water penetrates the roots. Spread a good amount of mulch around the base of the tree to retain moisture. 2. Watering: Water the tree to keep the ground moist. Watering deeply, once a week, should be enough to help your young tree establish roots. Once your tree matures, you only need to water in the dry seasons where you get less than 1 inch of rainfall each month. 3. Fertilizing: If you notice that your tree is not growing steadily every year, you can add a general-purpose fertilizer once a year.
