WILLIAM SAROYAN: The Man and the Writer Remembered

Edited by Leo Hamalian The compilation of critical essays, intimate recollections, biographical notes, and interviews, introduced by Leo Hamalian sheds light on William Saroyan's life and work. It puts into perspective the legends that grew around his meteoric career and gives us a sympathetic and even-handed view of the central vision that invigorated and integrated his work even when his powers of invention began to wane. Ranging from his early days in the Fred Finch Orphanage as a fatherless child to his mature years as a more or less transcontinental nomad, many of the major and minor events of his life are recalled by those who were privileged to know him and by those who admired his prodigious energies in theater, fiction, and prose.
