Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub

Description Enhance Your Barbecue with Wild Cherry Flavored BBQ Seasoning Cherry Wood and Cherry Fruit. Now Both Are in the Rub. Pitmasters have burned cherry wood for generations. It runs mild and sweet. It puts a mahogany color on pork that post oak cannot match and a fruitwood fragrance that hangs around the smoker pit long after the fire dies. Wild Cherry Rub takes that same profile and puts it in a shaker. Sweet cherry flavor that caramelizes. A savory backbone that keeps it honest. And a bark that looks like it spent eight hours near cherry splits — even if you ran it on a pellet grill at 250. Fruit-Forward Without Going to Dessert The cherry hits first — real, bright, the same kind of sweet-tart a ripe cherry carries before sugar gets involved. The honey granules come in behind it, pulling moisture from the meat and setting up a glossy bark that glazes during the cook. A gentle savory layer underneath keeps the whole thing grounded in barbecue, not pastry. On pork ribs, the cherry-honey bark tastes like someone spritzed the rack with cherry juice every hour — without the spray bottle and the sticky cleanup. On chicken wings, it builds a skin that reads sweet and smoky with a color that photographs. On pork belly burnt ends, the cherry cuts through the fat and the honey caramelizes into candy. On a smoked ham, it is the only rub you need — double-smoked, cherry-glazed, and gone before the rest of the table sits down. How to Use It Season generously. Let it sit 20 minutes so the honey granules pull moisture and the cherry flavor settles into the surface. Smoke low for ribs and ham. Grill hot for wings and chops. Both work. For a fruitwood one-two punch, run actual cherry wood in your smoker and Wild Cherry Rub on the meat. The smoke and the rub lock onto the same note and build a flavor that tastes intentional — because it is. Pairs well with Open Pit Pork Injection on ribs — savory moisture inside, cherry-honey bark on the outside. On poultry, Bird Booster Original Injection under Wild Cherry Rub gives you a bird that is juicy through the center and cherry-glazed on the skin. One jar seasons approximately four to five whole chickens or six to eight racks of ribs. How It Fits in the Kit Honey Rub is the all-purpose sweet workhorse. Queen Bee brings a citrus tang. Sweet Chipotle brings smoky heat. Pecan Honey Rub is nutty and buttery. Chicken and Waffle is maple nostalgia. Bacon Honey is bacon without the grease. 5 Alarm builds real heat. Garlic Honey Rub is savory-sweet and beef-friendly. Wild Cherry Rub is the fruitwood move. The fruit-forward one. The one that makes your ribs look and taste like they came off a cherry-wood offset — even if your smoker has never seen a fruitwood split. For the cook who understands that cherry wood does something to pork that no other wood can touch, and wants that something in a shaker. Ask the Pitmaster Ask the Pitmaster What is natural cherry powder in Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning and how does it differ from artificial cherry flavor? Natural cherry powder in Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub is derived from actual cherries — the fruit is processed and dehydrated into a concentrated powder that retains the sweet-tart character of real cherry without the artificial, candy-like quality of synthetic cherry flavoring. Artificial cherry flavor is a single synthetic compound — benzaldehyde — that reads as sharp and one-dimensional. Natural cherry powder delivers a more complex, fruit-forward flavor that is recognizable as cherry but integrates with the savory spice blend rather than sitting on top of it. The result is a rub that tastes like cherry wood smoke and ripe fruit rather than cherry candy — which is why the cherry note reads as subtle and savory rather than sweet and artificial. How do you use Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning with actual cherry wood for a double-cherry effect? Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub is designed to pair with cherry wood smoke for a deliberate flavor stack — the natural cherry powder in the rub and the cherry wood in the smoker lock onto the same flavor note and reinforce each other rather than competing. Apply Wild Cherry Rub generously to pork ribs or a pork shoulder, then run cherry splits or cherry wood chunks in your offset, kettle, or pellet grill. The cherry smoke penetrates the meat from the outside while the cherry powder in the rub caramelizes into the bark, producing a mahogany color and a fruit-forward flavor that is more pronounced and intentional than either element achieves alone. This technique is particularly effective on pork ribs, where cherry wood is already the preferred fruitwood for color and mild sweetness. How do you use Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning on a double-smoked ham? Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub is the recommended rub for double-smoked ham, where the cherry flavor profile complements the natural sweetness of cured pork in a way that a savory or spicy rub cannot. Start with a pre-cooked, bone-in ham — spiral-cut or whole — and apply Wild Cherry Rub generously over all surfaces. Place in a smoker at 250°F with cherry wood and smoke until the internal temperature reaches 140°F, approximately two to three hours. The cherry powder and molasses in the rub caramelize into a dark, glossy glaze during the second smoke, producing a ham that looks and tastes like it was professionally glazed. Score the fat cap before applying the rub to allow the seasoning to penetrate the surface layer. Can Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub be used on beef? Yes — Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub works on beef, where the cherry's natural acidity and sweetness contrast with the savory, iron-rich character of the meat in a way that is distinctive without being polarizing. It performs best on beef cuts where a fruit-forward bark is the goal — tri-tip, beef kabobs, and beef short ribs where the fat content is high enough to balance the cherry sweetness. For brisket, the cherry flavor is more subtle than on pork — the long cook and heavy smoke can mute the cherry note — so pairing Wild Cherry Rub with actual cherry wood in the smoker is recommended to maintain the fruit character through a 12-hour cook. Why does Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning taste more savory than sweet despite having cherry in the name? Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub is formulated with a savory herb base — thyme, rosemary, coriander, parsley — alongside the natural cherry powder, which means the cherry flavor reads as a fruit note within a savory context rather than as the dominant flavor. The standout flavor profile is savory cherry with celery and onion backing, with a light smoke finish — the cherry is present and identifiable but integrated into the spice blend rather than leading it. This is intentional: a rub where cherry is the only flavor would taste like dessert on meat. Wild Cherry Rub is designed to taste like cherry wood smoke — the fruit character of the wood, not the sweetness of cherry candy — which is why it reads as savory-forward with a cherry note rather than cherry-forward with a savory note. What proteins does Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub work best on? Pork and poultry are the primary proteins for Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub. On pork ribs, the cherry tartness cuts the fat while the sweetness caramelizes the bark. On pulled pork, the cherry note survives the long smoke and gives the shredded meat a brightness that heavy sweet rubs lose after ten hours. On chicken wings and thighs, the cherry caramelizes into a deep mahogany skin. On turkey breast, the fruit note separates it from plain birds. On duck breast, the cherry cuts the fat and the sweetness matches the richness. Wild game — venison and wild boar — take cherry well because the fruit brightness lifts the gaminess. Beyond meat, it works on grilled fruit like peaches, pineapple, and plums, and on roasted root vegetables. What wood pairs best with Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub for smoking? Cherry wood is the natural match for Butcher BBQ Wild Cherry BBQ Seasoning Rub — the smoke and the rub pull in the same direction and produce a deeper, more layered cherry flavor than either achieves alone. Apple wood is the second choice — milder than cherry, it lets the rub do the talking while adding a light fruit smoke underneath. Pecan works if you want more nuttiness and less fruit. Hickory works but competes — the strong smoke can bury the cherry note, so use it sparingly. Mesquite overpowers everything including the cherry and is not recommended. On a pellet grill, a cherry-apple blend is the sweet spot. On an offset, cherry splits with one apple split mixed in. The wood should support the rub, not bury it.
