Wild and Wicked

This original 1956 American movie poster was created for the release of The Wild and Wicked, a crime drama produced during the height of the postwar exploitation film era. Marketed as a shocking exposé, the film capitalized on contemporary anxieties surrounding youth culture, morality, and the modeling and entertainment industries, themes that were increasingly sensationalized in mid nineteen fifties cinema. The story centers on young women drawn into the promise of glamour and opportunity, only to encounter manipulation, control, and criminal exploitation. Films like this framed themselves as cautionary tales, presenting moral downfall and social danger under the guise of public warning. This approach allowed filmmakers to address taboo subjects such as vice, coercion, and corruption while navigating censorship standards of the period. Within film history, The Wild and Wicked reflects a broader trend in American independent cinema that relied on provocative imagery, bold typography, and headline driven storytelling to attract audiences.  Size: 41.0" x 27.0" Condition: Very Good, Age-appropriate wear, fading and toning.
