Why I Wake Early

In this series, artist Jeanette Getrost explores the divine feminine as an enduring archetype, reclaiming its presence through a grounded, poetic lens. Drawing on mythology and symbolic storytelling, Getrost weaves together personal reflection and universal narrative, using myth as a framework for understanding both the world and her own lived experience. More rooted and tactile than her previous, more ethereal works, this body of paintings balances sensual materiality with lyrical depth. Objects and gestures emerge as symbols of transformation, strength, and introspection—each composition a meditation on the sacred woven through the everyday.
