Whiting Rooster Cape

At Feather Craft, we know that top-tier materials make all the difference at the vise—and Whiting Capes set the gold standard for quality, consistency, and performance in fly tying. Whether you’re crafting delicate dry flies or intricate patterns, Whiting Farms’ genetic hackle delivers unmatched excellence for the discerning tyer. Whiting Capes are harvested from genetically bred roosters, resulting in feathers that are incredibly uniform in size, supple, and possess long, narrow barbs—ideal for creating perfectly proportioned flies every time. With a rich density of hackle fibers and unparalleled feather count per cape, these are the capes that professional tyers rely on to produce flies that fish well and hold up to multiple uses. We offer both whole capes and 1/2 capes to suit your needs. Whole capes are an excellent investment for those who tie across a broad range of hook sizes, typically from size 6 down to 22 or even smaller. They provide maximum feather variety and volume, making them ideal for heavy production or varied tying applications. Half capes, on the other hand, are perfect for those who want to explore the exceptional quality of Whiting without the full price tag. They still cover an impressive range of sizes and offer the same premium feather characteristics—just in a smaller, more affordable format. Whiting Capes come in multiple grade levels, with Silver Grade and Bronze Grade being two of the most popular. Silver Grade capes are known for their extremely high feather count, with long, flexible stems and consistent barb spacing. You’ll get an outstanding yield of usable feathers, ideal for volume tying. Bronze Grade capes offer nearly the same quality, with just slightly fewer feathers per cape, making them an excellent value without compromising on the tying experience. At Feather Craft, we proudly stock Whiting Capes because we believe your tying should be as enjoyable and effective as your fishing. Whether you're tying for trout, bass, or saltwater species, Whiting hackle helps bring your patterns to life with precision and beauty.
