White Rhododendron

Few plants put on such an epic display of rhododendrons in the springtime. When the spring bulbs emerge, the white rhododendron will soon follow with huge clusters of flowers. Atop each flush of new glossy leaves, 8-10 flowers appear. The result is a bright and classy evergreen display to make your house the envy of the block. Often referred to as the iron-clad rhododendron, the white rhododendron is one of the hardiest varieties you can find. It’s easy to grow, drought tolerant, and won’t get too picky about the soil or shade. Although, dappled sun and well-drained soil will make for a happy shrub. Native to the eastern USA, rhododendrons perfectly suit a woodland garden or shade garden. They work well planted in mass for landscape designs or in a row for a border or hedge. Smaller than other rhododendrons, the white variety works well as a supporting player. Because of their neutral color, white rhododendrons pair well with many other rhododendrons. Plant them amongst different colors for a mass display of color and beauty come spring. They also pair well with hydrangeas, holly, hostas, coral bells, narcissus, and bleeding heart.
