When the Earth Shook

• Mexico City, 1985 • In a landfill outside the city, Rafael finds the perfect birthday gift for his older brother, Pablo, an aspiring doctor. Hiding what looks like a priceless, gold-lettered book from the slum’s ruthless crime boss sets off a dangerous yet almost miraculous series of events that even entangles Claire, a beautiful French volunteer. The wisdom contained in passages of The Gypsy Book forever changes their lives and guides them through more than the rubble left by the horrific 1985 Mexico City earthquake. The Gypsy Book is a collection of reminiscences penned by an old Gypsy long since passed. Mysteriously appearing at turning points in world history, its wisdom and morality awaken the consciences of those who encounter it. The book is the thread that ties together the volumes in this exciting series, which can be read in any order.
