I used a glossy glaze that was fired in an electric kiln at high temperatures of over 2400 degrees Fahrenheit. Stoneware fired at high temperatures are known to be very durable - with proper care, this piece can last for centuries.  *This set is dishwasher safe and can be warmed in the oven up to around 350 degrees. They are not designed for stovetop use. This bowl and plates are approved for microwave use -- NOTE: extended microwave use (over many decades) on ceramic items with high power settings can cause the piece to become dry or brittle.  These are great serving pieces made with love and artistry. They serve as fantastic gifts for anniversaries, mother's day, weddings, graduations, house warmings, etc. Check out the other items in my shop to create a whole set!
