GE Glass Frame Lid (WH10X40097) (Replaces WH10X35297, WH44X32892)

The GE Glass Frame Lid is the outer lid assembly that covers the top of a top-load washing machine and allows you to see inside the tub through its glass panel during operation. It connects to the cabinet via hinges and works with the lid switch to detect when the lid is open or closed, which controls whether the washer runs or pauses for safety. Important Compatibility Note: Part number WH10X40097 is the current manufacturer-approved replacement for the following discontinued part number(s): WH10X35297, WH44X32892. If your appliance documentation or old part uses any of these numbers, this is the correct, updated component for your repair. A GE Glass Frame Lid can become damaged from everyday use, including cracking or shattering of the glass panel, broken hinge points, or warping of the frame from repeated impact or stress. The plastic frame can also become brittle over time, leading to chips, splits, or a lid that no longer sits flush or closes securely. Here are some signs that your lid may need to be replaced: - Glass panel is cracked, shattered, or has visible damage - Lid frame is broken, chipped, or split at the edges or hinge area - Lid does not close or latch properly - Washer stops mid-cycle because the damaged lid fails to trigger the lid switch - Lid sits unevenly or gaps on one side when closed - Hinge is loose or the lid wobbles when opened and closed
