Weld-On Spring Hinge

Heavy duty self-closing weld-on hinge. With this hinge, you no longer need a separate closer for jobs that require a self-closing gate. Two sealed maintenance-free bearings (no greasing). Near frictionless movement. Designed to fit square or round gate posts (weldable surface is slightly indented). Closes in one direction only. Not for gates needing to swing in both directions. Ideal for panic bar installations. Five spring tension adjustment settings. Adjustable yoke allows 1/2" of horizontal adjustability. One page instruction sheet. Made from steel and zinc chromate plated. Sold by the set. A set includes a top hinge that is not spring loaded, and a bottom spring-loaded hinge.  A set is what you need to hang one gate. Top Hinge Measurements: Approximately 4" tall. Approximately 3" wide (gap between post and gate frame is adjustable 2-1/2" to 3"). Approximately 1-1/2" thick. For more detailed dimensions, see the document found under Downloads. Bottom Hinge Measurements: Approximately 5" tall. Approximately 3" wide (gap between post and gate frame is adjustable 2-1/2" to 3"). Approximately 1-1/2" thick. For more detailed dimensions, see the document found under Downloads. IMPORTANT NOTES: There are a number of factors that determine whether the gate will self-close using this hinge set. Those factors include the weight of the gate, the height and width of the gate, the quality of the weld job and average wind speeds in the area. A pair of these hinges will support the weight of a 750 lb gate but are only rated to self-close a 300 lb gate maximum. This hinge is unique and requires very special care when installing for the self-closing feature to work properly. Gate Post: The gate post that the hinge is attached to must be installed so that is is perfectly plumb. Alignment: The centerline of the hinge pins of both hinges (top and bottom hinge) after installation, must be in exact alignment to each other (tolerance not to exceed plus or minus 1/16").
