When you're ready for a USGA event, peel and replace the silicone test shim with our custom 3M™ VHB™ strips for non-adjustable, rules-conforming play. The shorter the shot, the more mass matters. When swing speed drops, momentum collapses and you lose the feel of the clubhead — especially when choking down. So your hands try to make up the difference, and that's when things go wrong. Takeaway: More mass means more inertia to resist any tendency to pick the club up, drag it inside, or otherwise disturb the face orientation or shaft plane established by your setup. Transition: More mass increases the gravitational force acting on the clubhead. This improves your tempo by making it easier to feel the natural pause at the top and clubhead begin to fall. This also allows the length of your takeaway to become a more precise measure of the energy you've stored for the shot. Downswing: When you can feel the weight of your clubhead, you don’t have to manufacture acceleration with your hands or arms. The clubhead wants to fall. Gravity wants that mass to accelerate.
