GE Dryer Timer (WE4M533)

The GE Dryer Timer controls the length and sequence of each drying cycle by advancing through the selected program and signaling the dryer's heating element, motor, and other components when to turn on and off. It acts as the master timekeeper of the dryer, rotating through the cycle and cutting power at the end so clothes come out dry without over-running. A GE dryer timer can wear out from normal use as the internal contacts and motor inside the timer degrade over thousands of cycles. Heat exposure, electrical arcing across the contacts, or a seized timer motor can cause it to stop advancing, skip portions of the cycle, or fail to shut the dryer off when the cycle ends. Look for these symptoms to help determine if the timer is the cause of your dryer problem: - Dryer runs continuously and never shuts off on its own - Timer knob does not advance or moves too slowly through the cycle - Dryer stops mid-cycle before clothes are dry - Dryer will not start when the timer is turned to a cycle setting - Certain parts of the cycle, such as heat or tumbling, are skipped entirely - Timer feels stuck or difficult to turn when selecting a cycle - Dryer runs but produces no heat due to timer contact failure
