GE Dryer Lint Screen (WE18X20428)

The GE Dryer Lint Screen fits into the lint trap housing and captures lint, fibers, and debris from the airflow as your clothes tumble and dry. It works by allowing warm air to pass through its mesh surface while trapping particles before they can reach the exhaust duct or blower, keeping drying performance efficient and safe. A GE dryer lint screen can wear out over time from repeated cleaning, heat exposure, and normal use, leading to tears, warping, or a mesh that stays clogged even after cleaning. A damaged or blocked screen restricts airflow through the dryer, which forces the appliance to work harder, extends drying times, and can create a fire hazard if lint bypasses the screen and builds up in the duct. Look for these signs that your lint screen may need to be replaced: - Clothes take longer than usual to dry after a normal cycle - Visible tears, holes, or warping in the mesh screen - Lint found inside the drum or exhaust area instead of on the screen - Screen will not come fully clean even after washing - Dryer feels unusually hot to the touch during or after a cycle - Burning or musty smell coming from the dryer during use - Dryer shuts off early due to overheating caused by restricted airflow
