WE04X36457 Dryer Genuine OEM Timer

WE04X36457 Genuine OEM GE Dryer Timer The WE04X36457 is a genuine GE OEM electromechanical timer for GE electric and gas dryers. This timer is the sequencing control behind the dryer's operating cycle, using an internal motor-driven mechanism to advance the dryer through each stage — tumbling, heating, and cool-down — at the correct intervals for the selected cycle length. Over time, the timer's internal gears or contacts can wear out or jam. A failing timer produces a range of symptoms depending on which function is affected: the dryer may not advance through the cycle, may not shut off when it should, may not start at all, or may run with no heat if the timer's contacts controlling the heat circuit are affected. This part carries the updated designation EAPX36457X1, which fits both old and new production serials. It directly replaces CKDX36457X, TMD1EM32, 234D2377P006, AP7243859, PS17873930, FIX17873930, E190094, 250426, and 19-50425501. Wear work gloves. Access the timer through the control console or back panel depending on your model. Photograph each wire's terminal position before disconnecting anything, since a dryer timer typically has multiple wires and mixing them up can cause a malfunction after reinstallation. Remove the mounting screws or clips securing the old timer, then disconnect its wiring. Install the new WE04X36457 in the same position, reconnecting each wire to its original terminal exactly as photographed. Secure the timer in its mounting position and reassemble the console or panel. Restore power and run a full test cycle to confirm the dryer advances properly through tumbling, heating, and shutoff at the correct times. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver or nut driver (model-dependent), work gloves. Frequently Asked Questions My dryer won't shut off and keeps running. Is this the timer? Yes, this is a well-documented symptom of a failing timer. If the internal gear motor or contacts jam, the timer can fail to advance to the "off" position at the end of the cycle, leaving the dryer running continuously past when it should have stopped. My old part number doesn't say WE04X36457. Is this still the right timer? If your old timer's part number is CKDX36457X, TMD1EM32, or 234D2377P006, or one of the other numbers listed in our cross-reference section, yes — this WE04X36457 timer, also designated EAPX36457X1, is the current replacement and fits both older and newer production serials. There are so many similar-looking GE timer part numbers. How do I make sure I order the right one? GE has released many timers with very similar WE04X-prefix numbers for different dryer models, and they are not interchangeable despite the resemblance. The safest approach is to match your dryer's full model number against this listing's compatibility, or check the exact part number printed on your old timer, rather than relying on how similar the numbers look. Is this an OEM or aftermarket part? This is a genuine OEM part, manufactured by GE to factory specifications — guaranteed fit, materials, and performance. It matches the original timing mechanism and terminal layout of the timer designed for your dryer.
