GE Dryer Timer (WE04X24551)

The GE Dryer Timer controls the length and sequence of each drying cycle by advancing through the selected program and signaling when to start and stop heat, motor, and other functions. It works as the main timing mechanism that coordinates the dryer's operation from start to finish, shutting the cycle off at the right time. A GE dryer timer can wear out over time due to normal mechanical wear on internal contacts and gears, exposure to heat, or electrical surges that damage its components. When the timer fails, it may stick in one position, advance too quickly or too slowly, or lose the ability to send proper signals to the heating element and motor. Look for these symptoms to help determine if the timer is the cause of your dryer problem: - Dryer runs continuously and does not shut off at the end of the cycle - Dryer stops before clothes are fully dry and will not complete the cycle - Timer knob does not advance or moves erratically during operation - Dryer does not start when the timer is turned to a cycle setting - Heat does not turn on or shuts off too early during the cycle - Timer knob feels loose, spins freely, or has no effect when turned
