The valve opens and closes to regulate gas flow into the burner assembly, where it is ignited to generate warm air that circulates through the drum during each drying cycle. A GE dryer gas valve and burner can fail due to worn valve coils, a cracked or clogged burner, corrosion, or debris buildup that prevents proper gas flow or ignition.
