The GE Electric Range Bake Element is the lower heating element inside your oven that generates the heat needed for baking and roasting. It works by drawing electric current through a coiled resistive wire, converting that electricity into radiant heat that warms the oven cavity from the bottom up. Most bake cycles rely on this element as the primary heat source to maintain an even cooking temperature. The GE Electric Range Bake Element can fail from repeated heating and cooling cycles that cause the internal wire to crack or break over time. Grease buildup, food spills that burn onto the element, and power surges can also weaken or damage it, causing it to heat unevenly or stop working entirely. If you notice any of the following symptoms in your electric range, the bake element may need to be replaced: - Oven does not heat up when set to bake - Food is undercooked or takes much longer than expected - Visible cracks, holes, or blisters on the element surface - Element glows only partially or not at all when energized - Sparking or burning smell coming from the bottom of the oven - Oven temperature is inconsistent or difficult to maintain
