The GE Electric Range Upper Fan circulates hot air throughout the oven cavity to promote even cooking and consistent temperatures from top to bottom. It works by drawing air across the heating elements and pushing it around the interior so food cooks evenly without hot or cool spots. This fan is a key part of the convection system in your GE electric range. The GE Electric Range Upper Fan can wear out over time due to motor bearing failure, heat stress, or buildup of grease and debris on the fan blades. Electrical faults or prolonged exposure to high oven temperatures can also cause the motor to burn out or the fan to stop spinning properly. Look for these symptoms to help determine if the upper fan needs to be replaced: - Oven takes much longer than usual to reach the set temperature - Food cooks unevenly, with some areas overcooked and others undercooked - Unusual rattling, scraping, or humming noise coming from inside the oven - Fan blade is visibly cracked, warped, or not turning during operation - Oven shuts off early or displays an error code related to airflow or temperature - Burning smell during baking not caused by food spills - Convection mode produces no noticeable airflow inside the oven
