The GE Range Igniter Glowbar is the component in your gas range that lights the oven burner each time you call for heat. It draws electrical current to glow hot enough to ignite the gas, and it also signals the safety valve to open and allow gas to flow. Without a functioning glowbar, the oven burner will not light and the range cannot heat properly. Important Compatibility Note: Part number WB13X40206 is the current manufacturer-approved replacement for the following discontinued part number(s): WB13X25500. If your appliance documentation or old part uses any of these numbers, this is the correct, updated component for your repair. The GE Range Igniter Glowbar commonly fails after years of repeated heating and cooling cycles, which cause the element to weaken and eventually crack or burn out. A weak igniter may still glow but draw insufficient current to fully open the gas valve, leading to delayed ignition or no ignition at all. Exposure to grease, moisture, and oven spills can also shorten the life of the igniter. These symptoms can help you decide if a faulty igniter glowbar matches your problem: - Oven does not heat or fails to light at all - Igniter glows orange but oven burner never ignites - Oven takes much longer than normal to preheat - Igniter glows very dimly or unevenly - Strong smell of gas before the burner lights or without ignition - Oven burner lights inconsistently or only on some attempts - Visible cracks or damage on the igniter element
