Watch Your Step

"Watch Your Step" Approximate Size: 19x24-inch Black marker on cardboard.  For Sale Description Drawn in black marker on reclaimed cardboard, this piece captures a lone figure paused at the edge of a descending staircase, bottle raised in a quiet moment of indulgence. The scene feels suspended in time—half decision, half consequence—where the next step carries weight beyond the physical. Artistic Review The composition is deceptively simple. The stark, angular staircase contrasts with the loose, looping lines of the figure, creating a visual tension between structure and impulse. Negative space amplifies the sense of height and uncertainty, while the creases in the cardboard mirror the uneven descent below. The bottle becomes a focal point—both anchor and distraction. Critique This work excels as an allegory of awareness and risk. The title’s warning feels both literal and psychological, inviting reflection on choices made in moments of ease. Humor softens the scene, but does not undercut its gravity. Framed in gold, the raw cardboard becomes ceremonial, transforming a small, intimate moment into a quiet moral pause—one step away from change, consequence, or clarity. Original, one-of-a-kind artwork. Hand-drawn on reclaimed cardboard, signed by the artist, and presented in a gold frame.
