Warrior

High-Alpha Efficiency • Clean, Smooth Bitterness • Built for Big IPAs Warrior is a modern American bittering hop prized for delivering massive, ultra-smooth bitterness with remarkable efficiency. Developed by Yakima Chief Ranches, it became the go-to bittering charge for some of the most famous double IPAs in craft beer — beers that need serious IBUs without any rough edges. With alpha acids of 15%, Warrior is among the most potent hops available: a single ounce can bitter an entire 5-gallon batch of IPA, keeping vegetal matter in the kettle to a minimum. Flavor & Aroma Profile Exceptionally clean, smooth bitterness Mild citrus hints Light resinous undertone Faint herbal notes Neutral, low-cohumulone profile Used early, Warrior provides a firm, polished bitterness foundation with almost no flavor signature. Late additions reveal modest citrus and resin, though most brewers reserve it strictly for the bittering role. Brewing ApplicationsWarrior is a staple bittering ingredient in many hop-forward styles, including: Double IPA American IPA West Coast IPA American Pale Ale Imperial Stout American Barleywine It is also useful anywhere high IBUs are needed from a minimal hop charge, keeping trub losses low in big beers. Usage RecommendationsFor a 5-gallon batch, 0.5–1 oz at 60 minutes delivers anywhere from moderate pale ale bitterness to full double IPA firepower. Pair it with generous whirlpool and dry hop charges of aroma varieties — Warrior holds down the structure while they provide the fireworks. Its smooth, low-cohumulone bitterness makes Warrior especially good in high-IBU beers where harshness would otherwise build up.
