Specifications: Material: Natural walnut veneer with 10 mil 3M adhesive backing (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive), sourced from sustainably managed forests. Thickness: 0.025" (± 0.005"), with 0.020" veneer and 0.005" adhesive backing. Tolerances: Cut tolerance of ±0.250" for all panel dimensions (in inches). Finish: Smooth, sanded walnut veneer; adhesive backing on the reverse; no protective masking. Workability: Lightweight, flexible (approximate 1" bend radius), paint- and stain-receptive. Easy to cut with a knife, scissors, or laser. Apply with a veneer scraper or roller for best results. Laser Compatibility: CO2 and diode laser compatible for cutting and engraving. Pro Tip: For optimal application, ensure the surface is clean, dry, smooth (lightly sanded with 120-150 grit), and free of dust, grease, or wax. Use a veneer scraper or roller to apply concentrated pressure in the grain direction to remove bubbles. For enhanced adhesion in cooler environments, warm the veneer slightly with a heat gun before applying. Allow 48 hours for the adhesive to cure before finishing. For laser cutting, secure veneer with a jig or tape to prevent movement, and sand lightly to remove charred edges if desired. FAQs: Is walnut PSA veneer good for laser cutting? Yes, it cuts cleanly with CO2 or diode lasers, producing crisp, browned edges for detailed designs like labels or decals. Can I use this outdoors? This material is interior-grade and not moisture-resistant. For outdoor projects, consider marine-grade plywood or sealed finishes. Is it safe for school projects? Yes! Since Spring 2019, all veneer and adhesive products sold in the US comply with strict California and US EPA formaldehyde emission standards, ensuring very low formaldehyde levels. See EPA Formaldehyde Standards. Can I paint or stain it? Absolutely. The walnut veneer is highly paint- and stain-receptive. Sand lightly and apply a primer or clear coat for best results. Can I use a diode laser? Yes, diode lasers can engrave and cut this thin veneer with multiple passes. Check your laser’s manual for settings.
