Walleye Pendant

Walleye (Sander vitreus) are a prized freshwater fish species found throughout North America. These adaptable fish thrive in various aquatic environments, including lakes, rivers, and reservoirs, making them a popular target for recreational anglers. One of their most distinctive features is their large, glassy eyes, which give them their name and allow them to see and feed effectively in low-light conditions. Their coloration typically includes shades of olive or gold, with dark markings and a white belly. Walleye are carnivorous predators, with a diet consisting primarily of other fish, and their sharp teeth and strong jaws make them effective hunters. They are highly valued for their delicious, flaky white meat, and their reputation as a sportfish has made them a sought-after catch for anglers. Walleye spawn in the spring, laying their eggs in areas with submerged vegetation or rocky substrate, with males guarding and protecting the nest. These fish play a significant role in freshwater ecosystems and are a symbol of recreational fishing culture in North America. The Walleye "Sander vitreus" pendant is a part of the Freshwater Collection that encompasses all of our freshwater species.
