Walking Among Snakes

"Walking Among Snakes" Approximate Size: 19x24-inch Black marker on cardboard.  For Sale Description Drawn in black marker on reclaimed cardboard, this piece shows a lone figure walking along a winding path while snakes gather calmly at his feet. Overhead, the sky hums with quiet symbols—moon, stars, distant trees—suggesting a world that is watchful but indifferent. The figure raises his hands in a gesture that feels part surrender, part awareness. Artistic Review The composition balances tension and restraint. The snakes are not aggressive; they exist as presence rather than threat, lending the scene a meditative stillness. The loose, instinctive line work keeps the image approachable while allowing the symbolism to breathe. The creases in the cardboard echo the curves of the path, reinforcing the sense of movement through uneven terrain—both physical and emotional. Critique This work succeeds by resisting drama. Instead of fear, it presents coexistence: danger acknowledged, not dramatized. The figure’s calm posture reframes the snakes as inevitabilities rather than enemies, suggesting maturity, acceptance, or hard-earned confidence. Framed in gold, the humble material is elevated into a quiet allegory about navigating risk, awareness, and the courage to keep moving forward without spectacle. Original, one-of-a-kind artwork. Hand-drawn on reclaimed cardboard, signed by the artist, and presented in a gold frame.
