Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker (W11557001)

The Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker is the self-contained assembly responsible for producing and dispensing ice inside your refrigerator's freezer compartment. It cycles water into a mold, freezes it, and then harvests the cubes into the ice bin using a built-in motor, heater, and ejector arm. The Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker can fail due to a burned-out harvest motor, a faulty thermostat or sensor, a cracked ice mold, or a broken ejector arm from repeated use. Mineral buildup from hard water, power surges, or simply age can also cause the assembly to stop cycling correctly, leaving you with little or no ice production. These symptoms can help you decide if the ice maker matches your problem: - Refrigerator produces no ice at all - Ice maker runs but cubes are not being pushed into the bin - Ice cubes are undersized, hollow, or misshapen - Ice maker makes loud clicking, grinding, or humming noises during the cycle - Water overflows the ice mold and freezes in the freezer compartment - Ice maker arm or tray is visibly cracked or broken - Ice production has slowed significantly without a change in freezer temperature
