The Whirlpool Dishwasher Water Valve controls the flow of fresh water into the dishwasher during fill cycles. It opens when the control sends power and closes when the fill is complete, helping the tub reach the correct water level for washing and rinsing. Water valves can fail from mineral buildup, debris in the inlet screen, or a worn solenoid coil. The valve can also leak if internal seals wear or if the valve does not close all the way. Electrical issues, like a shorted or open coil, can stop the valve from opening when the dishwasher calls for water. These symptoms can help you decide if the water valve is the cause of your problem: - Dishwasher does not fill with water or fills very slowly. - Humming or buzzing at the start of a cycle, with little or no water entering. - Dishwasher stops early and shows a fill or water supply error. - Poor cleaning results because the water level is too low. - Water continues to enter when the dishwasher is off, or the tub slowly fills between cycles. - Leaks at the inlet valve area, inlet fitting, or where the water line connects.
